About us

Changing perceptions

Aqvato is a sub-brand of SANDHELDEN, which is a German manufacturer of bathroom products like washbasins and bathtubs from sand using a 3D printing process. The manufacturing process, which is based on an industrial 3D printing technology, allows the creation of shapes that are not possible with conventional production methods.

Aqvato offers in addition to versatile bathroom collections a complete customization to its clients. In line with the company‘s claim „Changing perceptions“, the company manages to change the general perception of sand as a loose material by shaping it into long-lasting and robust bathroom products.

Full Customization

The standard range offers a wide portfolio of different designs, sizes, shapes, and colors. All products can be basically customized in terms of these parameters. The unique combination of material and technology allows Aqvato to realize customized solutions for any customer‘s needs and bathrooms.

With the Aqvato 3D configurator it is possible to visualize modifications directly on a screen. Completely custom designs can be produced upon request.

Sand as a Material

Quartz sand is a natural material, which is unique mainly because of its haptics. The properties of the appealing surface of sand have a positive effect on the general well-being and invites to relaxation.

The thermal properties are ideal for bathroom applications as heat can be stored very well and for a long time. In the production, the sand is obtained exclusively from regional sources in Germany to ensure increased sustainability.

FAQ

FAQ
  • Is your material sustainable?
In our general production we use with quartz sand a natural resource. Additionally, we have a very strong focus on regionality. Our production facility, main partners and suppliers are all located in Bavaria (Germany). We even source our quartz sand from regional sources to minimize the carbon footprint. In the production process itself we focus on sustainability, too. The excess unbounded material from every 3D printing process can be reused in further prints, allowing us almost a complete waste reduction making the production process as efficient as possible. Almost all projects are in need of our infiltration (hardening) post-process to gain a certain level of stability. In this process we use a specific type of epoxy resin. However, SANDHELDEN keeps working on transforming its post-processing in a 100% green manufacturing process.
  • Do you offer samples?
We have a standard sample set with 6 colors available in our online store. These sets always consist of a random selection of our standard colors. However, you can always name us your preferences. You can order your sample set here.
  • What are your basins made out of?
All SANDHELDEN washbasins are made from high-quality and regional sourced quartz sand. In the production process the quartz sand will be bounded with a epoxy resin to gain a high stability.
  • How durable is your material?
All bathroom products have been tested by TÜV Rheinland LGA Products GmbH in accordance to all necessary norms and regulations of the European Union. They fulfill all requirements, which makes them durable products. We give in general a three-year warranty on our products.
  • How do you produce your products.
All of our products are manufactured by the latest 3D printing technology called Binder Jetting. In this process we use regional sourced natural quartz sand. The technology itself offers the opportunity to manufacture custom made products regardless of quantity. After the 3D printing process the products are further post-processed, which includes increasing the strength and applying a coating.
